The Asian elephant has been, since the disappearance of its ancestor the mammoth, the largest earthly mammal after the African elephant! What distinguishes him from his African cousin is his shorter ears, his smaller size and his trunk which has a single finger at its end while there are two in the African elephant. The trompe is actually an extension of their lip and nose, allowing them both to communicate, to wear water and mouth food, pull and transport branches, cries. Their defenses are made up of ivory and email and are in fact two teeth, used as a tool and as a defense in the fighting. The elephants live in herds of around twenty individuals and are gathered around the matriarch, the dean of the group. They spend most of their time looking for their food. They feed mainly on leaves, branches of bushes or trees, fruit or bark. Symbol of wisdom, they are also renowned for their intelligence and memory, hence the expression: "having an elephant memory".
