This endemic turtle of the Galápagos Islands is a giant terrestrial turtle. It is, with the Tortoise des Seychelles, one of the two most imposing terrestrial turtle species. A maturity specimen can measure up to 1.20m for 400kg! At present, we cannot give for certainty the life expectancy of this species but it is estimated that it can live up to 200 years.
