With its trunk and its immense defenses, the mammoth strongly resembles its cousin the elephant. This prehistoric animal died over 10,000 years ago and is one of the best -known missing animals, especially thanks to the very well preserved fossils found in the ice. Originally from Africa, the mammoths then spread more widely, in Eurasia, North America and the plains of Siberia. This mammal had a thick fur to combat cold and sometimes even a real coat of wool in woolly mammoth. Its large curved defenses could reach up to 3 m in length and served, among other things, to search the ground to find food. It is assumed that global warming is at the origin of their extinction.
